Thonet table 1060

Something special, minimal and warm. Table 1060 by Jorre van Ast was the perfect addition to my bright and minimal interior. I was temporarily living in a lovely home. Yet a bit empty and very white with floors of rough concrete, so I could use some furniture with a more cosy appearance. I now live in a cosy city apartment with a wooden floor and painted walls in white and warm grey. It seems this table feels at home anywhere and fits in various interiors

A while ago I visited the Thonet factory in Germany. This furniture brand is well known for their bentwood furniture, made with a special and delicate technique. During this visit, the collaboration between Dutch designer Jorre van Ast and Thonet was introduced. I was immediately impressed by the modern version of the classic wooden table. And the initiative of Thonet to collaborate with new designers. The combination of a classic technique and new knowledge and visions turned out to be a very good one, resulting in table 1060.

When you look longer and closer the beautiful details of the table are visible. The corners of the top are rounded. Both the table legs and the crossbar are made of solid wood and perfectly match the bentwood tradition of Thonet. Jorre van Ast combined classic craftsmanship with a modern graphic touch. Table 1060 is massive and elegant at the same time.

Table 1060 comes in several colours, such as oak, essen and walnut. I preferred the lightest wood version because this blond wood is warm and emphasizes the elegance of the solid table. It also matches the light walls and graphic details in my interior. The big size is perfect to eat, work or relax.

IMM Cologne 2017

It’s been some weeks ago since I went to Cologne to shoot the beautiful stand of my friend Desiree from Vosgesparis. She created an inspiring and green oasis with relaxed sofa units in wool and leather. The best place to be during IMM 2017

Mix (air) plants, ceramics, warm fabrics with industrial elements and innovative brands. Then add a sturdy dark wooden floor with comfortable Bolia seating units and a relaxing lounge corner is born. It sounds easy, but I know Desiree spent a lot of time to make this real. I’m glad she did and I loved to capture this unique collaboration.
