Shooting for w/ Style is not only fun and very inspiring. We also love to work with different brands. To get to know new brands and their collections. For this shoot, we worked with Blomus. A brand well-known for their home accessories designs and craftsmanship since 1961. We styled and photographed the Planta planters and Mio collection together with some beautiful fabrics.
The brown-black planter set was definitely one of our favorite products to work with. This raw looking ceramic set of two is a real eye-catcher. It comes in two sizes, one big enough for a large houseplant or small tree. Also suitable outdoors because Blomus used weatherproof and frost-resistant materials. In black-brown and grey tones. With the Planta planters you can create your own small green oasis.
The Mio ceramics collection consists of plates, bowls, jugs, and mugs. All in different heights, sizes and in three soft powder tones: mirage-grey, agave-green and moonbeam-white. All sizes and colors can easily be mixed together. The green color is high on my wish list, it would blend in so well with the greys and browns in my kitchen. This collection can be used for both a cozy breakfast as a stylish dinner party. The pure and minimalistic look is perfect for different styles and occasions.

Since I visited the Menu headquarters a few years back I’m an admirer of Menu Design. I was lucky to see the remarkable HQ building just outside Copenhagen. Also photographed their collection and got a sneak peek on the new items. Norm Architects - also with roots in Denmark and founded in 2008 - is one of their many collaborations with designers. Norm Architects is responsible for several home accessories and small furniture. Like this beautiful Meet bench.
The idea for this indoor bench originates from the traditional piano bench. The Meet bench caught my eye because of the minimalistic look and graphic lines. The slim legs ‘meet’ under the top, which refers to its name. It’s multi-functional and perfect to move around the house, just where I want or need it the most. A bench at my diner table as an extra seating for example, there is just enough space for two to ‘meet’. It also goes well in the hallway or bedroom. For now, it’s an eye-catcher in the living room as you can see in the photos. Now and then the bench also serves as a coffee table next to the sofa.
The construction is made of black powder coated steel, the wooden top has beautiful curved edges. It comes with a thin felt cushion in blended dark grey. Norm Architects did such a great job: it’s a minimal and timeless design with character. The masculine look and feel in combination with the rounded shapes appeal to me. And - not to forget - the color: it comes in black :)

Last month I was in Amsterdam at the beautiful home of Desiree for a w/ Style photoshoot of the bulthaup b solitaire unit. A solid and sturdy shelf unit made of steel with a thick wooden top. Designed and made by Dutch kitchen manufacturer bulthaup. A perfect addition to an existing kitchen unit or dining table for a more flexible and personal use. It certainly fitted Desiree’s bright industrial kitchen very well.
As always we love to add our own visual ’w/ Style signature’ to every brand we work with. Minimal, with an eye for detail and materials. For this photoshoot we choose raw ceramics, bamboo, linen fabrics and fresh vegetables. All the natural tones combined well with the black steel and oak of the kitchen unit.
I always love our w/ Style photo shoots. Weeks in advance we start to brainstorm and searching for the perfect props. During this shoot it all came together. The bright morning light that came in, the great styling of the beautiful items, our interaction and the fun we had. These moments always provide such good energy. Especially when we collaborate with lovely brands like bulthaup.

I have seen so many beautiful brands and installations in Milan last April it took me a while to go through all the images. For my blog I didn’t know where to start, so I decided to start with the final day when I visited a marble exhibition created by Nendo. On my way, I enjoyed a sunny morning walk through the Brera district. A very lively area with exhibitions, unique stores and coffee bars. I love strolling through the small streets of this big city.
This beautiful poetic exhibition was called ’Into Marble’. Created by Japanese studio Nendo for the Italian company Marsotto Edizioni. The installation comes to life from water, turning into a suggestive landscape of original shapes. It consists of a new collection of marble furniture by Nendo together with the iconic works of well-known designers like James Irvine, Jasper Morrison, Ross Lovegrove and Swedish Thomas Sandell. Though all the shapes are made of marble, the surface and edges seem very soft. Gentle ripples were added on the top of the surfaces to accentuate this soft appearance. During my visit I was the only one person in the room for a short moment. It felt so calm and serene during these hectic (yet not to missed) Milano days.

Looking forward to sunny days, drinking my morning coffee outside. Though I love the Emu garden bench indoors too. During Autumn and Winter I have it inside for extra storage space, as a nice styling element or at the kitchen table. All good and nice.. but I can’t wait to put it outside again. My balcony is cozy but small so an eyecatcher was needed, yet I also wanted a comfortable sitting.
This bench is part of the Star collection, which also exists of chairs and tables in a variety of colors. I chose the matt black bench, big enough for two. The combination of the minimal lines and the black turns it into a graphic element.
The story behind this brand is remarkable. It is based on experience the designers gained as radio engineers during the second world war. They set up a machine shop specialized in the production of military equipment. In order to comply with the exact technical specifications for these devices, which require a high resistance to weather conditions, it was important to protect the metal parts by means of plasticization. This Italian company used this knowledge and got specialized in metal garden furniture since 1951. This history shows in its solid and timeless character.
Though the bench is made of metal, I have experienced that the comfort is very good. The bench has a metal frame with a steel seat and back support. Thanks to the galvanization and the powder-coated frame the bench is suitable for intensive (outdoor) use.
Fun fact: the Star bench was specially designed for the Starbucks terraces. So lot’s of good coffee moments in the sun guaranteed. Can’t wait..
