Modern Day Candle

It was on my wishlist for a while: a beautiful small and cordless lamp. To use it in different rooms and later when the weather will be warmer, outside on my balcony. A cordless lamp is not only easy to move around but necessary too because I don’t have a power point on every wall and in every corner. The Bellhop from Flos meets all my wishes and expectations.

The lamp is designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby a London based design duo. Emerged from a table lamp they designed for the New London Design Museum. The Bellhop collection was launched during Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2017 and immediately caught my attention. In the beginning of 2018 the table lamp is included in the FLOS collection. The name Bellhop refers to the well-known hotel clerk ‘bell men’ with their typical round hats. Often seen in chic English hotels.

I chose the Chocolate brown version which gives a warm light and atmosphere, both on and off. It is rechargeable and has a 4-step dimmer function. I use the lamp every day and have to charge it only 2 times a week during the night. It also comes in the colors Brick Red, White and Grey. All versions give an even and warm distribution of the integrated led light. I love the minimal look and shape of the lamp. Also, the shadows it gives. It is very atmospheric and practical at the same time.

Often the Bellop lamp stands in the living room on the Plant Box. In a cozy corner close to the window but without a power point for a normal lamp. When working in the kitchen I move it over to the table or a shelf. Currently, it is in my bedroom as shown in the photos. It perfectly matches the dark wall and brown and black details of the String Pocket shelves. Can’t wait for better weather to come and bring it outside!
